Who was Barbara Lackritz?   Why have a Service Award in her name?

AAUW in the St. Louis area:   Barb was a "triple-threat" with membership in three
 branches—Creve Coeur, Kirkwood-Webster Groves, and Ballwin-Chesterfield. She
served in various positions in the local branches and for the Metro St. Louis IBC and
was recognized by her local branches as an EF Named Gift Honoree.
•
MO AAUW:   Barb served in a variety of leadership positions. She was selected as the first
recipient of the AAUW MO "Woman of Distinction" Award presented at the Leadership
Conference in 1984.  She served as MO EF Chairperson for several years, always coming up
with interesting ways to part you and your money.  Barb started the AAUW MO Book of EF
Named Gift Honorees in the early 1990s. Barb was recognized as a MO EF Named Gift
Honoree.  After doing so well with EF, Barb took on the challenge of MO LAF Chairperson.
Many AAUW MO members have their LAF Advocates pin—which Barb started to encourage
more participation in LAF.
She was an effective participant in leadership training—such as the VoLT program
conducted around the state.
Barb held the office of AAUW MO President for 2000-2002. As MO President, she brought
AAUW MO and AAUW IL together for the first-ever joint state convention. After success with
the joint MO-IL convention in 2001, she then brought MO and AR together in Branson, the
AAUW Regional and National level; Barb was involved by participating in AAUW SWC
Regional and AAUW National Conventions.
To sum It all up, Barbara Lackritz was always there—to share her thoughts and to pitch
in to lend a hand.  Barb demonstrated through her words and by her deeds
what service to AAUW truly can accomplish.
