BALLWIN-CHESTERFIELD AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS TO LOCAL WOMEN FOR 2009-2010
Ballwin-Chesterfield Branch raises scholarship funds through its many Dollars for Scholars Activites (click
on the link above  for more information about this program).  One-half of the money raised goes to the
National AAUW organization for their scholarship fund, and

one-half stays here in St. Louis for our own Branch Scholarship Awards.

Six local women have been awarded scholarships by our branch for the 2009-2010 academic year.
Most are "non-standard" students, returning to school after years away.

In 1998 the Ballwin-Chesterfield branch began the process for establishing an AAUW grant.   Through
generous individual donations and proceeds from Dollars for Scholars the grant reached the completion
level of $35,000 in late 2004.   In 2005-2006 this grant, the Ballwin-Chesterfield (MO) Branch Research and
Projects Grant (#4112), was one of the sponsors of a Community Action Grant for Noel Pingatore.     In true
branch tradition, without missing a beat, we started and are working on a new grant to commemorate the
branch's  25th anniversary “the Ballwin-Chesterfield (MO) Branch Silver Research and Projects Grant
(#4286)".
Ballwin-Chesterfield gives cash awards to girls who achieve first place in their divisions in the Greater St.
Louis Science Fair.  STEM Chair Sandra Murdock  pioneered these awards.  She mentors at several schools
and also helps individual students with their projects and research.  To view information on all our 2009
